HEARTS + HANDS: FOOD & NUTRITION STUDENTS SERVE THE COMMUNITY ❤️🍽️

Earlier this week our Food & Nutrition students assisted at the Thensted Center Holiday Luncheon, helping serve meals to veterans and seniors with warmth, care, and professionalism. They practiced teamwork and community leadership while supporting a meaningful event — a wonderful example of service learning in action. Thank you to the Thensted Center for inviting us and to our students for giving their time and compassion.

Mrs. Guillory, our librarian, led her very first book club last week!

Students read Black Like Me by John Griffin and engaged in a deep, respectful conversation about empathy, perspective, and social justice. Their thoughtful reflections showed curiosity, compassion, and a willingness to listen and learn from one another.

Thank you to Mrs. Guillory and all the students who participated — your thoughts and contributions were truly appreciated.

The first "Freshman Academy" Meeting of the 2025-2026 School Year was held yesterday (11.13.25) in the auditorium.

On the behalf of all The Freshman Academy Faculty Members, we would like to thank the OHS Administrative Team who approved Mr. Elair's Seminar and made the arrangement for students to be kept under the care of other educators.

In the midst of a fire drill, The Freshman Academy Members: Ms. Hicks, Ms. Gallow, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Hines-Williams, Mrs. Washington, Ms. Castile, Mrs. Tyler, Ms. Hallcy , and Mr. Elair overlooked the group of students to keep them in a central designated area, and all of the students returned back into the auditorium afterwards.

Acknowledgements also go to the wonderful faculty members who accepted the students that were not part of the Freshman Academy Assembly. Thank you for accepting the remaining Tigers in your classes during each of the periods.
