The application for the JumpStart Afterhours program is now open to St. Landry public high school students. Students will only be allowed to participate in one session for the after-school program. Students will earn up to $1,000.00 for all programs listed and a Carnegie credit. Some may earn more depending on the program.
The application will close on September 26, 2025. Students will be notified if their application was received, and will receive notification of acceptance within three weeks of the close of the application.

Programs are contingent on enrollment. Students MUST have reliable transportation (unless a class is virtual) and must commit to the 138 hours.

Orientation and further instructions will be forwarded to students at their school email addresses. Please reach out to tellender@slpsb.org for more information or questions.

parent and family engagment initial meeting
All students. Tuesday September 16 ALL students will be allowed free admission to the volleyball game. We will be selling FRIED OREOS for $2.00. Come as the Lady Red Devils take on Welsh in the volleyball match up for free. Also, ALL teachers, your spouse and kids get in free as we support our Lady Devils. See you there. Parents, If parents plan on coming to the pep rally. It is imperative for safety measures you must sign in at the front office. We have classes in the gym and we will keep the front doors locked until time to enter. Seating is limited and classes sit with their class.

ALL TRADE SCHOOL STUDENTS from PBHS. You will go to Trade school tomorrow, and the bus will bring you back in time for the pep rally. Go to Trade School tomorrow, and around 1:25, they will bring you back for the pep rally, homecoming, and all playoff pep rallies. Remember, 95% attendance across the board for all grade levels, and you get into the football game for $2.oo.

Please let every student know that ANYONE who scores Mastery or Advanced on ANY LEAP ASSESSMENT or a 20 on the ACT will receive a PACK THE STAND CARD for the next year. This card will grant them free entry to any Port Barre Middle/High School home event or game for the entire 2026-2027 school year. This means if they work hard and study diligently this year, they will earn a year’s worth of home games for free. Please note that this does not include playoff games. LEAP ASSESSMENTS are in APRIL, but the work begins now. Come to school, study, complete assignments, and ask for extra help to get your PACK THE STAND CARD. You can do it. Coach Mac believes in YOU!!!!
