Pre-K Registration for Washington Elementary for the 2021-2022 school year is ongoing for a potential January class opening. A student count of 16 students is needed to open the class. A meeting will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, November 16, 2021 @ 5:00PM at Washington Elementary for those interested in registering their child and to discuss ways to fill the class. Hello Washington Family. Tutoring has gotten off to a great start. Beginning tomorrow, tutoring student car riders will be picked on the side of the building in the designated pickup area. Students leaving early will be asked to be signed out. Parents thanks for entrusting us with the care and instruction of your child.
Beginning Monday, November 1st, face coverings for staff, students, and visitors will be optional in SLP public schools except when traveling on school buses. Updated guidance on quarantining during opt-out can be found by going to http://www.slpsb.org/apps/pages/NEWSROOM.
Beyond the Bell Tutoring, which was schedule to begin today, will begin on Monday, November 1, 2021. Thanks for your cooperation and patience.

This message is to address the safety of the students of Washington Elementary. Please adhere the 7:30am student dropoff time in the morning. Any child dropped off before then will run the risk of not having proper adult supervision. If you arrive before that time please keep your child in your vehicle until that time. It is with great sadness that SLPSB announces the passing of Mrs. Denise Oliney-Rose, District 5 School Board Member. Mrs. Rose will always be remembered for her true passion and love for our district and for the schools and constituents she represented. She was a strong advocate for students and staff and her voice and her presence will be greatly missed.
The Direct Student Services Afterschool Tutoring Program for Washington Elementary students will begin tomorrow, Tuesday September 28, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and will continue again on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Please remember that you are responsible for picking up your child at 5:00 p.m. Thank you for your interest in education in St. Landry Parish. If you have any questions or concerns about the Direct Student Services Afterschool Tutoring Program, please contact the school and we will be happy to assist you.

Reminders:
1. If you pick up your child at the end of the day please remain in or near your vehicle to wait for your child. If you pick up early, when you enter the building, you must have a mask and please remain in the lobby area to wait for your child.
2. Our annual Grandparents Day program will be tomorrow from 8:30-9:30am in the gym. Masks are REQUIRED for attendance and please adhere to social distancing protocol.
3. COVID testing for the students and staff of Washington Elementary is scheduled for every Friday. Unfortunately, parents are not allowed to be tested at this time. Sorry for any confusion concerning this matter.
